BIWTA begins drive to clean Buriganga River

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has begun its drive to remove various wastages, including polythene, from the Buriganga River.

Three long-boom excavators, collected by the BIWTA, are being used in the drive, according to a press release of the shipping ministry.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan inaugurated the drive.

BIWTA chairman Dr Shamsuddoha Khandaker, member (engineering) Firoz Ahmed and chief engineer (dredging) M Abdul Matin, among others, were present.
