50 injured in clash

At least 50 people including five women were injured Monday at Pahordanga-Saroshpur village under Kalia upazila in Narail.

Local and police sources said two rival village groups, led by Bhola Sharif of Pahardanga and Musa Member of Saroshpur attacked each other with sharp homemade weapons, iron rods and sticks, over a land purchase dispute.

The injured were admitted to hospitals in Kalia, Khulna and Gopalganj.

Amir Tymur Officer-in-Charge of Naragati police station said police rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control when they were informed of the incident.

A case has been filed in this connection.
