Niaz finishes 27th

Bangladesh GM Niaz Murshed finished 27th in the Open section of the Asian Continental Chess Championships after he drew his last round game against IM Bancod Ronald of Philippines yesterday. Niaz earned 5 points from the nine games he played. The national women’s champion Sharmin Sultana Shirin finished 40th with only one point out of 9. In the last round, Shirin lost to Bernadette Galas of Philippines.  A total of 77 players from 14 countries, including 26 grandmasters and 19 International Masters, participated in the Open championship and 40 players from 9 countries, including 11 women Grand Masters, two International Masters and nine women International Masters participated in the women championship.
