Bobby cancels internal conflict rumor

Update : 19 May 2013, 05:49 PM

Ahmed Sazzadul Alam Bobby, who traveled with Bangladesh team in their tour of Zimbabwe as a Bangladesh Cricket Board delegate, said the decision of the team captain Mushfiqur Rahim was completely driven by emotion and not any kind of interpersonal conflict in the team. Bobby said, “There was nothing unusual during the tour and I have not seen any of the team members having problems with Mushfiq. It was totally an emotional outburst from Mushfiq after losing the one day series.” Bangladesh’s cricket arena received a huge jolt when Tigers skipper Mushfiq announced his resignation at the post-match conference after losing the one day series against Zimbabwe. The sudden decision also raised a lot of questions among the cricket fraternity as there were some indications of internal problem with other players of the team. The rumor spread more after BCB president Nazmul Hasan told the media that Mushfiq was not getting proper support from his team-mates. Nazmul immediately asked Bobby to investigate the reason behind Mushfiq’s outburst. However, Bobby cleared the rumors of any internal problems, either with the team-mates or with the coach, and said in the report that it was the sheer frustration from the series defeat that prompted Mushfiq to take the decision. “I am yet to submit the report to the BCB as I have to add all the reports from the tour and there was nothing to underline,” said Bobby. Mushfiq’s appointment as captain would anyway have ended after the Zimbabwe tour as per the time period given earlier.
