Update : 16 May 2013, 11:31 AM

A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Hefazat-e-Islam’s Secretary General Junaid Babunagari on a 22-day fresh remand in 3 different cases.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman passed the order against Babunagari when the Motijheel police produced him before the court requesting remand for 26 days against the Hefazat leader.

The cases filed against Babunagari include obstructing members of police force while performing their duties, killing policemen, and exploding crude bombs.

Earlier on May 6, the law enforcers arrested Babunagari from capital’s Dhakeshwari Temple area in connection with the sporadic violence that rocked the capital and Narayanganj on May 5 and May 6 that left over a dozen people killed.

On May 7, a Dhaka court placed Babunagari on a nine-day remand on charges of “killing police and exploding crude bombs” in the capital.
