Unidentified criminals yesterday fired gunshots injuring a close relative of Tanvir Mohammad Towki, who was found dead by the bank of the Shitalakya River on March 8, two days after he had disappeared.
Police said the miscreants fired gunshots targeting Towki's paternal cousin 25-year-old Arnab Wahid as he was walking on the street at Narayanganj’s Khanpur area, reported BSS.
“Two bullets hit his right arm but he is now out of danger,” a doctor at the Khanpur Sadar Hospital told.
Towki's father and Arnab's uncle Rafiur Rabbi said his nephew, a student of computer science department at a private university in Dhaka, went to Khanpur area to join a wedding party.
“We strongly suspect the incident is linked to Towki's murder. Some identified criminals have threatened us as a mass campaign is underway to expose them to justice,” Rabbi told BSS.
Officer-in-charge of Narayanganjsadar police station ManjurQuader said the criminals quickly fled the scene firing the gunshots but police immediately launched a manhunt and investigation to find a possible link of the attack to Towki's murder.
