Media policy should not control the mass media, it should rather facilitate the media to work freely, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said.
He was speaking at a seminar orgnaised by Mass Communication and Journalism Alumni Association of Dhaka University yesterday as part of its get-together ceremony at the Teachers-Students Centre.
The minister asked the media people to present objective and accurate news to the audience.
Dhaka University vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique said, “The media have to play a neutral role and avoid news that goes against people’s interest.”
Professor Sheikh Abdus Salam presented an essay on the media coverage of Ganajagaron Mancha at Shahbag.
Association president Golam Rahman presided over the seminar, attended, among others, by journalist Abed Khan and Professor Syed Anwar Hossain.
