Capital market investors seek special allocation

Capital market investors on Thursday demanded a special allocation in the upcoming budget for bringing stability to the share market, reports UNB.

“On behalf of 33 lakh (3.3m) investors, Bangladesh Capital Market United National Alliance (BCMUNA) appeals to the prime minister to make a special allocation of Tk10,000crore (Tk100bn) in the budget to bring a durable stability in the capital market,” said member secretary of BCMIUNA ANM Ataullah Nayeem.

He was speaking at a press conference organised by BCMIUNA at the National Press Club.

Nayeem said they sought the prime minister’s intervention in ensuring a stable capital market.

He also placed their 13-point demand, including one to provide a one-time Tk1 million payment to the families of each of the nine investors who committed suicide following the share market debacle, and for the implementation of the schemes and Bangladesh Fund declared for the banking sector.
