A three-week-long fashion design workshop will begin in the city on May 18 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Franco-German Elysée (Friendship) Treaty.
Internationally renowned fashion designers Sakina M’SA from France, Michael Sontag from Germany and Bibi Russell from Bangladesh will conduct the workshop to be held at the Goethe-Institut at Dhanmondi, said a press release on Monday.
Goethe-Institut Bangladesh and Alliances Française de Dhaka and Chittagong in association with the Institut Française, Embassy of France and Embassy of Germany in Bangladesh will jointly organise the event.
The outcome of the workshop will be the designing of a unique collection of original and eco-friendly pieces of clothing that respect the mutual traditions and the creative inspiration of the participants from Bangladesh, France and Germany.
The collection will be presented to the press, professionals and the general public during three fashion shows on June 7 & 8 in Dhaka and January 10 next year in Chittagong.
The pre-selection of next generation designers will be done by Alliance Française and Goethe-Institut with the advice of world famous designer Bibi Russell. The final selection will be done by German designer Michael Sontag, French designer SakinaM’Sa and Bibi Russell.
The emphasis of the workshop will be on promoting local resources through next generation designers ‘creations.
Goethe-Institut Bangladesh and Alliance Française de Dhaka and Chittagong are looking for creative designers for the fashion design workshop, the release added.
