Chittagong bagged the gold of the table tennis men's team event beating Bangladesh Ansar in the final at the Shaheed Tajuddin indoor stadium yesterday. Bangladesh Biman and Bagerhat won the bronze.
In the women's team event, Bangladesh Ansar clinched the gold after beating Dhaka by 3-0 sets at the same venue. Rangpur and Narail took the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Ansar is certain to grab both gold and silver in the women's doubles as both finalist pairs are from the same camp. The pair of Shoma and Rumi will take on Saleha and Sinthi in today’s final. SHoma-Rumi defeated Snighda-Shila of Dhaka in the semi-final by 3-0 sets while Saleha-Sinthi beat Akhi-Nahima by 3-1 sets.
In the men's doubles, Rocky-Hasib from Ansar, Gautum-Tuhin, Manosh-Hamlet of Chittagong and Mostofa-Munna pairs reached the semi-final stage. Mahbub-Shoma, Rocky-Sinthi, Hasib-Rumi and Mostofa-Saleha moved to the last four of the mixed doubles. All the four pairs represent Ansar.
