A Union Parishad (UP) member was stabbed to death following previous enmity at Bagdob village in Boraigram upazila Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam Dukhu Miah, 55, member of ward-2 of Nagar union parishad.
Witnesses said Salam had a long standing enmity with Mokbul Hossain, son of Idris Ali, over a piece of land.
At one stage of altercation over cutting trees from the disputed land Mokbul stabbed Salam with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured at about 9am.
When Salam was rushed to Boraigram upazila health complex doctors declared him dead. Police arrested Makbul.
