Political parities urged not to enforce hartal during international board exams

The English Medium School Students-Guardians Forum urged political parties to refrain from engaging in any disruptive activities during the upcoming O-level and A-level examinations beginning on May 7 under the Cambridge and Edexcel syllabi.

“Examinees and guardians are worried about this year’s O, and A-level examinations due to the ongoing activities of the BNP-led 18-party alliance, Hefazat-e-Islam and Ganajagaran Mancha,” Forum convener Quamrul Islam Sony and five others said in a joint statement.    They said it is difficult to defer the examinations as they are held in all countries at the same time.   “In case of any dawn-to-dusk hartal, the examinations used to be held at night in the past. The examinations will be cancelled if the hartal exceeds 24 hours,” the statement said.   The statement also mentioned that candidates also suffer from mental pressure and uncertainty due to the violence practiced during agitation programs.
