It was previously necessary to test and gain certification for software overseas
Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Thursday inaugurated the Software Quality Testing and Certification (SQTC) Centre at Agargaon’s ICT Division.
Speaking at the inauguration, Joy said: “Bangladesh has advanced one step forward through this initiative to set up the SQTC Centre.”
Describing the centre as a milestone for Bangladesh’s software industry, Joy said it was previously necessary to test and gain certification for software overseas, reports BSS.
Alongside the SQTC centre, Joy also inaugurated a computer incident response team, and an accelerator lab for startups with the objective of developing 1000 innovative products by 2021, an official release said.
Post, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, ICT Division Secretary Juena Aziz, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Executive Director ParthoPratim Dev, senior officials of the ICT Division, and IT experts were present at the function, among others.
Joy said the first ever startup accelerator lab will supplement efforts of the government to develop entrepreneurs and help create employment opportunities for the youth of the country.
Meanwhile, the main aim of establishing the SQTC centre is to verify and validate software systems in government offices, to create awareness of and elevate the software testing industry in the country, and to build the capacity of resources to support desired growth in the software testing arena, ICT Division sources said.
The center will conduct training programs that will produce functional testers, test automation engineers, performance test engineers, security test engineers, mobile test engineers, test managers, and project and program managers, they added.
