Bangamata Asian Women’s Volleyball to begin Nov 9

BVF President and DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam handed the trophy and a jersey of the Bangladesh women’s volleyball team to Bangamata’s daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

The maiden edition of the Bangamata Asian Senior Central Zone Women’s Volleyball Championship is set to be held from November 9-14 in Dhaka.

The tournament is being organized by the Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) in the memory of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib.

Afghanistan, Nepal, Maldives, and Kyrgyzstan will participate in the tournament, in addition to hosts Bangladesh.

In a ceremony on Tuesday, BVF President and DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam handed the trophy and a jersey of the Bangladesh women’s volleyball team to Bangamata’s daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, according to a press release.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, former FBCCI President M Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, FBCCI Vice-president Md Siddiqur Rahman, and BGMEA President Dr Rubana Huq were also in attendance.

The tournament will be inaugurated at Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur at 3pm on November 9. Bangladesh will face Afghanistan in the opening match the same day.
