“Winning gold at this level is a matter of pride. I bagged three medals and hoping to continue this trend. I worked hard for this tirelessly. If, I continue my hard work, it’s possible to secure a gold medal in the Olympics as well.” said Ruman
Ruman Shana achieved yet another glorious feat by winning the gold medal in the recently concluded Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament 2019 in Philippines but the ace Archer is eying for even greater success with renewed confidence as he believes it’s possible to win medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics if he continues his fine form.
After becoming the second ever Bangladeshi to qualify for the Olympics directly following the country’s first ever bronze medal in the World Archery Championships in June this year, Ruman brought laurels once again after winning gold in the recruve men’s event in the third stage of Asia Cup 2019 on Friday.
The 24-year-old archer from Khulna also won two more medals –silver and bronze in the recurve men’s team and recurve mixed team events respectively.
“Winning gold at this level is a matter of pride. I bagged three medals and hoping to continue this trend. I worked hard for this tirelessly. If, I continue my hard work, it’s possible to secure a gold medal in the Olympics as well.” said Ruman upon arriving Dhaka yesterday.
“Actually, Olympic is much bigger stage where top players from all over the world dream to win Olympic medal, thousands of players like me come from different countries with a desire to win Olympic medal. But I don’t know right now, whether I will be able to win medal but my aim is to play good and to produce good result.”
Ruman vowed to work harder in the upcoming months ahead of the Olympics and is expected to participate in at least six international tournaments by this time. “But to win medal in the Olympics, I have to obtain the capability before. I have nine months in my hands, I will prepare myself for that. We have Asian Championship, SA Games, so our target will be to win gold from any of the six events. If we can play in this way and perform in this way, hope we will be able to reach our goal.”
Meanwhile, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell and Bangladesh Olympic Association secretary general Syed Shahed Reza were among the others who welcomed Ruman at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday noon.
