Asjad Iqbal won the Sheikh Kamal Memorial 1st Saarc Snooker Championship after beating Muhammad Bilal in a close game.
Salman F Rahman, MP, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, handed over the prizes as the chief guest at a prize giving ceremony held at Dhaka Club Friday.
In the concluding ceremony, Salman said this tournament is very important to inspire young players and to promote the game.
He expressed hope of organizing a larger tournament in future.
He also added that this government is working very hard to promote every game in the country.
The champion received a cash prize of $2,500 and the runners-up bagged $1,500, while the losing semi-finalists earned $500 each.

The top two players from each group qualified for the quarter-finals while Asjad and Muhammad Bilal of Pakistan reached the final defeating Deepak Mangar of Nepal and Sundeep Gulati of India respectively.
