Dengue hits sports arena hard

The menace of Dengue has made serious impact in the sporting arena of the country as the SA game camp at Sultana Kamal Women Sports Complex is unofficially closed before the Eid vacation starts.

Some of the female Kabadi, Kho kho and Basketball players, who were in training at the complex for the forthcoming SA games, were diagnosed with dengue last month and they were admitted in the Bangladesh Medical on July 29. 

That pressed the panic button among other athletes and they are leaving the camp before the eid vacation which is scheduled to start from the Thursday.

The convener of SA Games’ training committee and general secretary of Basketball federation, A K Sarkar said the complex faces the threat of Aedes mosquito, the career of dengue virus, but the authority is taking care of the situation.  

He also said, the vacation will start from Thursday, but few female athletes informed that many of them have already left the camp with the constant fear of Dengue.
