The three-day long 40th National Cycling Competition got underway Thursday in Kurigram at 5am.

The details of the event were announced in a press conference Wednesday at District Sports Association where BCF general secretary Parvez Hasan was present.
A total of 250 cyclists from 21 teams, including 15 DSAs and six corporate sides, will take part in 18 events.
On the opening day, Bangladesh Army’s Suborna Barma finished first in the women’s 20km time trial with a timing of 38.23s, while Ansar Battalion’s Sharifa Akter and BJMC’s Rita Khatun ended second and third respectively with timings of 40.10s and 41.53s accordingly.
In the men’s 40km time trial, BGB’s Sabur Hossain emerged first with a timing of 1.07.56s, while Army’s Helal Hossain and Ansar’s Hasan Ali finished second and third respectively with timings of 1.11.50s and 1.12.19s accordingly.
