Gold medalist shooter Syeda Sadia Sultana's health is improving and she is likely to undergo surgery Monday after getting admitted at the Plastic Surgery and Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Thursday. She had suffered an accident at her residence in Chittagong last week.
Sadia, who earned Bangladesh team gold medals in the 10m air-rifle event at the South Asian Games 2009 and the Commonwealth Games 2010, was taken to the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital on Sunday after burning her body while cooking at home, informed Syed Sarwar, father of Sadia.
Chittagong Medical College and Hospital suggested the family to shift the patient to Dhaka in order to improve her condition. Sadia's brother Syed Sajjadullah informed that her sister will have surgery, most likely Monday.
Sadia also won gold medal in the 10m air-rifle singles event in the Bangladesh Games in 2013. Since then she has been out of the shooting scene in the country.
