The final phase of the Independence Cup Kabaddi 2017 is all set to begin on Sunday at Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium

Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation held a press conference on Thursday at the Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium where Bashundhara Group was announced as the sponsor while the logo of the tournament was also launched. AdTouch is managing the event.

BKF president and IG of Bangladesh Police, AKM Shahidul Haque, BPM, PPM; general secretary and Additional DIG, Habibur Rahman, and Bashundhara Group advisor Major General (retd.) Mahbub Haider Khan were present at the ceremony.

“The main ambition of this tournament is to find the best kabaddi players in the country so that we can provide them better training facilities and prepare them for international competitions. I would like to thank Bashundhara Group for stepping forward to fund this tournament and also hope that the other corporate houses of the country will join us in future to lift kabaddi, which is Bangladesh’s national sport,” said Shahidul.

The five-day long tournament will feature 10 teams divided into two groups. The group stage matches will be held on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The two semi-finals will take place on Wednesday while the final is scheduled for a day later.

Group A: Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Fire Service, district champion team and district third-position team

Group B: Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Jail and district runners-up side
