Navy drew with Bangladesh Army 2-2 to conclude their group stage fixtures as the former finished with 13 points from five matches while the latter ended with nine points from the same number of games

Sonali Bank and Bangladesh Navy Tuesday set up a final date with each other in the Walton Refrigerator Victory Day Hockey at Maulana Bhasani National Stadium in Dhaka.

Navy drew with Bangladesh Army 2-2 to conclude their group stage fixtures as the former finished with 13 points from five matches while the latter ended with nine points from the same number of games.

Navy qualified for the grand finale as the standing leader while Army exited the tournament in the first hurdle.

Navy took the lead in the seventh minute from a Sarwar Hossain field goal but Sohanur Rahman soon brought parity four minutes later from a penalty corner.

Army then took the lead in the 39th minute from a Mamun Mia field goal but Navy equalized in the 55th minute with a Mainul Islam field goal.

Meanwhile, Sonali Bank finished second in the standing with 12 points from five matches after trouncing Bangladesh Police 7-0.

Arshad Hossain was the star of the show with four field goals in the 11th, 18th, 56th and 58th minute while Mahbub Hossain bagged a brace – a field goal in the 21st minute and penalty stroke in the 28th minute.

Rajib Das grabbed the other in the 16th minute from a field goal.

The final will be held Thursday at the same venue at 5:45pm.
