Mohammedan beat holder Mariner

This is the 10th consecutive victory for the Black and Whites, which enabled them to take a three-point lead at the top of the standing

Mohammedan Sporting Club moved solely at the top of the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League 2018 after coming from behind to beat holder Mariner Youngs Club 3-1 at Maulana Bhasani National Stadium in Dhaka Wednesday. 

This is the 10th consecutive victory for the Black and Whites, which enabled them to take a three-point lead at the top of the standing. Besides beating the defending champion, Mohammedan also beat the reigning runners-up side Abahani Limited a couple of days ago.

Mohammedan are currently leading the table with 30 points from 10 matches while Mariner are placed second with three points less having played the same number of games. Abahani remained third with 24 points from nine matches.

Hasan Jubair Niloy put Mariner ahead a minute before the end of the opening half before Indian forward Gurjinder Singh equalised from a penalty stroke nine minutes into the second half. 

The other Indian Arvinder Singh converted a couple of penalty corners in the 64th and 68th minute to seal victory for Mohammedan and hand Mariner their first defeat in the league this season.

Meanwhile, Sadharan Bima and Bangladesh Police Club played out a 3-3 draw in the day's first game. Joga Singh, Abdullah Mansur and Bishal netted one apiece for Sadharan Bima while Mohammad Sohel, Nahid Chowdhury and Mahfuzur Rahman scored one each for Police.
