Abahani Limited began their Premier Division Hockey League campaign with a thumping 10-0 win over Police Sporting Club at Maulana Bhasani National Stadium in Dhaka Sunday.
The game got underway hours later than its scheduled time due to rain but when it did start, the Sky Blues put goal past another in the Police net.
Rumman netted a treble while Arshad and Krishna scored two each. The other goals came from Ashraful, Sarwar and Afsar Uddin.
In the other matches of the day at the same venue, Sonali Bank beat Wari Club 3-2 and Bangladesh Sporting Club and Sadharan Bima played out a 2-2 draw.
Mohammad Ashik Mahmud opened the scoring for Wari in just the sixth minute of the game before Al Nahiyan Shuvo equalised in the 27th minute.
Wari went ahead again in the 49th minute through Sameer Ray before Prosenjit Ray brought parity seven minutes later.
Irfanul Haque bagged the winner in the 64th minute.
In the game between Bangladesh SC and Sadharan Bima, Iqbal Nadir Prince gave the former the lead in the 13th minute before Abdullah al Monsur equalised seven minutes later.
Prince scored his second in the 43rd minute but Faisal Hossain once again brought parity for Sadharan Bima in the 54th minute.
