Mariner Youngs Club began their Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League mission with a 4-0 win over Victoria Sporting Club at Maulana Bhasani National Stadium in Dhaka Saturday.
Mariner led the first half 3-0.
Hasin Arman gave Mariner the lead in just the third minute before Mamunur Rahman Chayan made it 2-0 from a penalty corner in the 20th minute.
Mariner’s third and fourth goals also came from penalty corners, courtesy fine strikes from Mainul Islam Kaushik and Hasan Jubair Niloy in the 30th and 68th minute respectively.
Usha Krira Chakra and Bangladesh Police Athletic Club were scheduled to face each other in the day’s second game at the same venue but none of the teams were present on the field before the kick off time.
