Zamal romps to title win

Zamal carded 13-under-par 275 in the 72-hole stroke-play tournament, organised by Bangladesh Professional Golfers Association and sponsored by renowned business conglomerate Gemcon Group

Rising Bangladesh star Zamal Hossain Mollah emerged as the champion in the Gemcon Professional Tournament at Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka Wednesday.

Zamal carded 13-under-par 275 in the 72-hole stroke-play tournament, organised by Bangladesh Professional Golfers Association and sponsored by renowned business conglomerate Gemcon Group.

He finished 11 shots ahead of Badal Hossain.

A total of 90 Bangladeshis, including 12 amateurs, from BPGA took part in the Tk11 lakhs competition.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder was present as the chief guest during the closing ceremony.

Saeed Ahmed, Chief Human Resources Officer, Gemcon Group, BPGA president Asif Ibrahim, and secretary general Brigadier General GM Quamrul Islam spp, ndc, psc (retd.) were also present among others in the presentation ceremony.

The cut came into effect after the first 36 holes. 

The top 10 players and ties made the halfway cut and continued to play for another 36 holes.
