Premier Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman finished third in the Porsche European Open in Hamburg, Germany following the end of the fourth and final round on Sunday.
Siddikur, the two-time Asian Tour winner, played in the $2m tournament for the very first time and aggregated an overall 11-under-par 277, only two shots behind joint champions Alexander Lavy of France and Jordan Smith of England.
The 32-year old Siddikur, who hails from Madaripur, started the final day at seventh and exhibited brilliant performance, hitting four birdies.
He didn't card a single bogey on Sunday.
Earlier in the tournament, Siddikur said, “I am so happy, especially because my short game was very good. I holed many long putts and that’s why I played so good and managed to make a better score.
“I’m very fortunate that my short games have been very good and because of that I managed to score otherwise it is a very long course for me. I am playing quite good, I’m doing everything I’m supposed to do and I think everything is coming smoothly.
“I am excited for the weekend and really looking forward to the weather being good.”
After opening with a 70, the two-time Asian Tour winner, continued to stay close to the leaders by marking his card with eight birdies and two bogeys for a two-day total of eight-under-par 136.
