Local striker Arifur Rahman scored an instant goal as a substitute to help his side Saif Sporting beat Arambagh Krira Sangha while Uttar Baridhara beat Brother’s Union to qualify for the quarterfinal of the Federation Cup on Tuesday.
At the Bangabandhu Stadium in the second match of the day, left winger Arifur was replaced by Niegerian John Okoli in the 56th minute and the young marksman scored straightaway the solitary goal of the match that ensured Saif becoming champions of group B.
Earlier, in the first match of the day, Uttar Baridhara beat Brothers Union by 3-0 to secure their quarter berth along with Saif from the same group.
