Nepal national football team completed their first day of practice in Bangladesh at the Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club ground Sunday after ending their isolation process since their arrival in Dhaka three days earlier.
The Gorkhas held light training session at the roof tops of team hotel before being allowed to train outside. They resumed training activities in Kathmandu at the end of last month.
Nepal head coach Bal Gopal Maharjan thanked the Bangladesh Football Federation again for hosting the matches during the pandemic when he was asked about the team condition.
“All sports activities across the world are going down due to Covid-19. Same thing is in our country Nepal.” He continued, “My team is practicing with not enough sufficient time. We began training one week ago but I hope, with more days to practice here, for good performance and result.”
Goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong said after two-hour training session, “We got chance to play after 7-8 months which is very good. Definitely these matches help to resume football for both countries. We are excited to play in Bangladesh as well.”
Kiran played for Punjab FC in the I-League where Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan is going to play for the first time in the upcoming season as Kolkata Mohammedan roped him in recently.
Nepal custodian replied to a query, “It’s really good news for Bangladesh and all South Asian countries because we are getting chance in the I-League and ISL. I think Jamal is going to rock the season.”
The visitors are taking preparation for the two-match friendly series scheduled to take place on November 13 and 17 against the hosts Bangladesh. The two neighbours take on the pitch first time during Covid-19 pandemic.
