Jamal Bhuiyan and Sabina Khatun, the captain of Bangladesh men’s and women’s football team respectively, will act as the ambassador of Bangladesh Football Federation’s Grassroots Football Concept.

A press release from the BFF on Sunday informed, the organization is going to launch a rejuvenated Grassroots Football Development Plan for 2020 and beyond.

In a video message, BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag informed, AFC has three categories in Grassroots Charter-  Gold, Silver and Bronze- and they plan to apply for Bronze category and will implement the programme under the charter from the later part of the year. Already 28 countries of Asia have already started their grassroots activities under the charter of AFC.

To increase the credibility and boost the programme, BFF sought some leaders and role models and the captains of the national side agreed to join the programme.

Jamal was happy to get the opportunity and said he felt honoured to become part of it.

“What an important area for the development of the game in Bangladesh. I am excited to be part of this concept and if I can make a positive contribution to my fellow people to get into football,” said Jamal according to the press release.

Sabina also echoed his male comrade.

“ My development as a player was through grassrootm programmes, so this is very close to my heart. If I can assist anyone to get into Football I will be honoured,” said Sabina.
