Seychelles, the lowest ranked (205) side in the tournament, will face the top-ranked Palestine in the first semifinal of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup on Wednesday

Mauritius made a remarkable comeback to snatch a 2-2 draw in the last group match Monday but couldn't avoid the exit as their East African rivals Seychelles reached the semifinal with a better goal-difference.

Seychelles, the lowest ranked (205) side in the tournament, will face the top-ranked Palestine in the first semifinal of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup on Wednesday.

Gervais Waye-Hive took the lead in the 19th minute converting a defence-splitting cutback from Brandon Labrosse but Mauritius goalkeeper almost blocked the attempt before slipping it.

It was again Brandon's cross that led to the second goal netted by Perry Moniaie with a well-controlled and composed finish in the 28th minute.

Mauritius players exerted more pressure after the break as Alex Ferre headed home in a corner of captain Pascal Balisson in the 67th minute.

Seychelles were reduced to ten men when Juninho Mathiot received second booking in the 83rd minute and 17-year old Adrien Francois clinched an injury-time equalizer with an opportunist strike after substitute forward Darrel Damou’s initial effort was blocked.

There was verbal and physical clash between the players of two sides after the final whistle with the Seychelles goalkeeper Ian Ah-Kong was on receiving ends mostly and the coaches had to intervene to stop the brawl.

Mauritius conceded 4-1 defeat against Burundi while Seychelles lost 3-1 against the same opponents and those results proved key in deciding the last semifinalist alongside Palestine, Burundi and Bangladesh.

Result

Seychelles 2 (Gervais 19’, Perry 28’) – 2 Mauritius (Ferre 67’, Adrien 91’)
