The Bangladesh Under-19 Men’s Football team is set to start their campaign in the AFC U-19 Championship 2020 against hosts Bahrain at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Manama on Wednesday.

Bangladesh will then take on Jordan on Friday and Bhutan on Sunday, in the other matches of Group E. All of the matches of the group will be at the same venue, reports UNB.

During a pre-match press conference in Manama yesterday, Bangladesh Head Coach Andrew Peter Turner said the side was ready to play in the tournament.

“We are well-prepared for the tournament. We have done well in the SAFF competition and are now looking forward to the AFC qualifiers. We want to play good football, because the best team will qualify for the final round,” Andrew said.

Earlier, 22 players and eight officials of the Bangladesh team reached the capital of Bahrain on Monday afternoon.

In September, Bangladesh finished as runners-up in the five-team SAFF U-18 Championship 2019 in Nepal, losing 1-2 against India in a nail biting final.

After the SAFF campaign, the Bangladesh U-19 team played in a Tri-nation International Friendly tournament in Qatar in October, as part of the preparations for the AFC qualifiers. Hosts Quatar and Kuwait were the other two teams in the friendly tournament.
