Jaago News and Samakal win big

Reigning champions Dhaka Tribune will face Maasranga TV in their Group G encounter on Wednesday.

The Kool-BSJA Media Cup 2019 football tournament gets underway at the BFF Artificial turf in Motijheel with Jaago News and Daily Samakal winning big. The tournament, participated by 24 national media outlets, was inaugurated by Harunur Rashid, Bangladesh Awami League’s secretary for Youth and Sports in the presence of Jurg Nepfar, FIFA’s head of technical development services, Chokey Nima, FIFA’s technical consultant for South Asian Zone, Abu Nayeem Shohag, general secretary, BFF, Safi Abedin, brand executive, Square toiletries, and Motaher Hossain Masum, president, BSJA. 

In the first game of the day, Jaago News picked up a convincing win, defeating News 24 by six goals. Jaago News captain Moniruzzaman Uzzal was adjudged as man of the match for his four goals. Group G’s match featured Bangla Vision who beat Deepto TV by a solitary goal by man of the match Ibrahim Parvez. Daily Star managed to defeat DBC in their Group C encounter by a goal scored by Mazhar Uddin Omi who was later adjudged as man of the match.

Maasranga TV registered their first win in the tournament as they beat Daily Sangbad 3-1 where Kamruzzaman received the man of the match award for his brace. Boishakhi TV’s man of the match Jahid scored two goals to help his team defeat ETV by three goals to none.

The Daily Samakal recorded a massive win as they beat Somoy TV 5-1 with Afzal Hossain picking up the man of the match for his performance. The first matchday of the tournament saw Channel 24 sharing points with BTV with a 1-1 scoreline, while Bangladesh Pratidin and GTV drew their game by the scoreline. BTV’s goalkeeper Arefin Masud and Bangladesh Pratidin’s Khondoker Mahbub bagged the man of the match award in their respective games.  

Reigning champions Dhaka Tribune will face Maasranga TV in their Group G encounter Wednesday.
