Both Joya and Salma have more than 10 years of experience in officiating football matches
Bangladeshi women referees and former footballers Joya Chakma and Salma Islam Moni have taken Fifa’s required test to become an international referee Saturday.
If they pass the test, Joya and Salma will be able to officiate in international matches for one year.
The test papers will be sent to Fifa by September 27, and by November 30 Fifa will declare the results.
BFF deputy chairman of referees committee Ibrahim Nesar said, “If they are selected, then they will become registered referees of Fifa and will be officiating international matches for one year, starting from January 1, 2020.”
Both Joya and Salma have more than 10 years of experience in officiating football matches.
Nesar said, “There have been a number of women referees from Bangladesh but none were able to continue it for this long. But both Joya and Salma have been officiating in matches for the past 10 years and that’s why they could achieve this.”
