Bashundhara currently have 58 points from 21 matches while second-placed Abahani have 54 points from 22 matches

Bashundhara Kings have three more matches in hand in the Bangladesh Premier League but the table leaders could ensure title in their debut season if they beat Mohammedan Sporting Club at their home venue at Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Nilfamari on Wednesday.

Bashundhara currently have 58 points from 21 matches while second-placed Abahani have 54 points from 22 matches. Abahani will face Chittagong Abahani at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in today’s other match and if the reigning champions draw their game, one point would be enough for Bashundhara but if Abahani lose, the Kings can start celebration even if they lose.

The above equation was almost the same when Bashundhara faced Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in Sylhet last Saturday but the big-spending club left disappointed after conceding their first defeat in the league this season which put an end to their record winning run of 13 matches.

Mohammedan were no match for the Kings during the first leg in Dhaka three months ago when the game ended in a 4-1 in favour of the new powerhouse. But the Black and Whites are currently in a good spirit after having been beaten their archrivals Abahani 4-0 last week followed by 3-1 win over Nofel Sporting Club in the last game. Mohammedan sit at 9th in the table with 23 points from 21 matches.

There was whole day of raining in Nilfamari yesterday which forced Bashundhara to shift their practice schedule from the match venue. The team trained at a nearest ground of Shariatpur airport where they landed from Dhaka in the morning. Team manager Bayezid Alam Zubair Nipu informed that all the players are fit for clash and eager to start the celebration with a win today.

Meanwhile, in the day’s other match, Team BJMC will host Arambagh Krira Sangha at Shaheed Bulu Stadium in Noakhali and if BJMC lose the game, they will be the first side out of two to get relegated from the top-tier.
