The Kings continue to sit comfortably at the top of the table with a seven-point lead over the reigning champions Abahani

Bashundhara Kings carried on their impressive unbeaten run in the Bangladesh Premier League as the table leaders handed bottom-placed Team BJMC a dominating 2-0 defeat at Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Nilphamari on Sunday.

Defender Nurul Naim Faisal took the lead in the opening half before Brazilian forward Marcos Vinicius doubled it in the latter half to give Bashundhara its 12th consecutive victory in the league this season.

The Kings continue to sit comfortably at the top of the table with a seven-point lead over the reigning champions Abahani. They now have earned 52 points from 18 matches while BJMC remained at the bottom of the table with only eight points from 19 matches.

The last time Bashundhara failed to win a game was also against the same opponents BJMC in the first phase, five months ago. It was also their only draw in the league as they won the rest of the 17 matches in order to remain unbeaten with six more rounds to play.

The Kings controlled the game from the beginning. Moments after Costa Rican international Daniel Colindres saw his left-footed volley denied by the woodwork, Naim put the Kings ahead in the 28th minute with a flying header from the edge of the six-yard box following a precise corner of Colindres.

BJMC keeper Abul Kashem Milon made a brilliant diving save in the 57th minute to deny Colindres’ dangerous header following Ibrahim’s cross from the left flank.

Marcos Vinicius doubled the lead in the 81st minute with a superb solo effort. Collecting a pass from Ibrahim, Marcos skipped past a couple of BJMC players to break into the penalty area before dribbling past a defender inside the box and placed the ball home calmly past the keeper.

Result

Bashundhara Kings 2 (Naim 28, Marcos 75) - 0 Team BJMC
