Bangladesh made it to the second round of Fifa World Cup 2022 in Qatar and AFC Asian Cup 2023 preliminary round after a goalless draw against Laos at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.

During the match, a special spectator supporting the Bangladesh football team, the acting British

high commissioner in Dhaka, Kanbar Hossein Bor, was present at the stadium, cheering for the home team.

In a video on Facebook page “UK in Bangladesh”, he was seen congratulating the Bangladesh Football Federation for securing a spot in the first qualifying round of Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023.

"It is a privilege to know a British coaching team is helping Bangladesh. [sic] Go on tigers," said Kanbar on the video.

Bangladesh beat Laos in the first leg 1-0 on June 6 in Vientiane, the Laotian capital. The match was held at the New Lao National Stadium. Rabiul Hasan scored the winning goal for Bangladesh in the second half of the match.
