It was also decided that the top-flight league will be held in six venues across the country – Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka, Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium, Mymensingh, Sheikh Moni Stadium, Gopalganj, Sheikh Kamal Stadium, Nilphamari, Shaheed Bhulu Stadium, Noakhali and Sylhet District Stadium

The Bangladesh Premier Football League 2018-19 season will get underway Friday with the opening match between holder Abahani Limited and newly promoted Nofel Sporting Club.

This was announced Saturday following a meeting of the BFF’s Professional Football League Committee in Dhaka.

The Committee’s chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy chaired the meeting.

It was also decided that the top-flight league will be held in six venues across the country – Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka, Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium, Mymensingh, Sheikh Moni Stadium, Gopalganj, Sheikh Kamal Stadium, Nilphamari, Shaheed Bhulu Stadium, Noakhali and Sylhet District Stadium.

The league committee wants to conclude the 13-tear league by July this year so there will be four matchdays in a week this season, compared to the three last season.

The BPL will take a breather at different points of the season due to the national team’s assignments, the AFC U-23 Championship and Abahani’s participation in the AFC Cup.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Bangladesh Championship League 2018-19 season will begin on February 5 at Shaheed Sipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.

The bottom two teams of the BPL will get relegated to the 12-team Championship League, while the champion of the second tier will be promoted to the top-flight.
