Schalke agree deal to sell defender Kehrer to PSG

Young German centre-back Thilo Kehrer will join Paris Saint-Germain from Schalke after the two clubs reached an agreement on a deal, the Bundesliga side announced on Sunday.

The 21-year-old was part of the Germany outfit which won the under-21 European championships last month and played 27 Bundesliga matches last year.

"The economic dimension, in other words the transfer fee for a player whose contract expires next year, is why we accepted this move," said Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel.

German daily Bild reported that the fee was 37m euros ($42.3m).

Gameiro switches from Atletico to Valencia

French striker Kevin Gameiro is set to join Valencia from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid after the two clubs struck a deal on Sunday.

"Valencia CF have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid, which still needs to be formalised, for the transfer of Kevin Gameiro," said a statement from Valencia, who finished fourth in La Liga last season and will compete in the Champions League group stage.

Gameiro, 31, struck 27 goals and provided 11 assists in 83 games in all competitions for Atletico, having joined the Madrid side from Sevilla in 2016 for a reported 27m euros ($30.81m). His presence in the team faded after January, however, when Diego Costa was free to play after rejoining the club.

Gameiro lifted one trophy during his time at Atletico, the 2018 Europa League, although he was an unused substitute in the 3-0 win over Olympique de Marseille in the final.

Fekir likely to stay at Lyon

Nabil Fekir will “95 per cent” stay at Lyon, at least in the short term, according to club president Jean-Michel Aulas.

Liverpool failed to finalise a deal for the attacker, while Chelsea were also linked, and with the Premier League window now closed a move elsewhere in Europe would be required.

Madrid could turn to Werner

Real Madrid could turn to RB Leipzig's Timo Werner as they look to sign attacking reinforcements before the end of the summer window, Don Balonreports.

The Santiago Bernabeu side, now without Cristiano Ronaldo, have been linked with a move for Rodrigo Moreno, but Valencia have warned the attacker will cost €120m.

As such, Madrid feel they will get more value for money from Germany international Werner.

Bartomeu leaves door open to Pogba

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu refused to discuss links with Manchester United star Paul Pogba, though he did leave the door open to a possible move before the transfer window shuts.

Asked about Pogba following Barca's 2-1 win against Sevilla in Sunday's Supercopa de Espana, Bartomeu said: "I won't speak of any names, we have respect for all clubs and there are 20 days left."

Tuchel uncertain over Rabiot's PSG future

Thomas Tuchel is unsure of Adrien Rabiot's future at Paris Saint-Germain amid reports the midfielder has rejected a new contract.

The France international, who refused to be on his country's standby list for the World Cup, scored the second goal in a 3-0 Ligue 1 opening weekend win at home to Caen on Sunday.

Lazio have asked for €100m for their star man, and while Milan won't pay that sum outright, they are ready to offer €40m for a loan with a €70m option to buy included.

Milan are also willing to part with Borini if it will help get the deal closed.
