Bangladesh to start Qatar tour on Wednesday

Ahead of the Asian Games and Saff Championship in August-September, a 28-man Bangladesh squad earlier went for a 13-day camp in Qatar on July 8 and has been training at Mesaimeer since then

Bangladesh national football team will play their first practice match in the Qatar tour when they take on locals Mesaimeer FC in the Mesaimeer Training Academy Ground on Wednesday at 8pm BST.

It will be the new national team head coach Jamie Day's first official practice match in charge. The English coach said, “We are expecting them to have hopefully taken on board what we have been working on in training regarding their shape with and without the ball.”

Ahead of the Asian Games and Saff Championship in August-September, a 28-man Bangladesh squad earlier went for a 13-day camp in Qatar on July 8 and has been training at Mesaimeer since then. Mesaimeer football club compete in the second division. 

Day added, “They look a very good side that have some big strong players so will be good for me and my staff to see how they cope against that in what I think will be a physical match,”

“We want to achieve some match fitness which is needed and the boys to have a game against a strong side so we can see where we are at as a team.”
