After several Paris Saint Germain players enjoyed wonderful outings in the last 16 matches of the 2018 Fifa World Cup Saturday, Thiago Silva is expecting the same from another PSG star and Brazil teammate Neymar when they face Mexico in Samara, Russia Monday for a quarter-final berth.
PSG youngster Kylian Mbappe stunned Argentina, including Lionel Messi, with two goals in the second half which sent last edition’s runners up side crash out of the tournament.
And despite being on the losing side, PSG winger Angel di Maria scored a stunner from 35 yards to give Argentina brief hope of salvaging a comeback.
Another PSG star Edinson Cavani was also in scintillating form, scoring a brace against Portugal to send Cristiano Ronaldo’s side out of the greatest show on earth.
“You may not believe it, but I was thinking exactly about that, and that Neymar will have his way in our match. PSG (are) well represented here,” said Silva in the official press conference. He also mentioned his club mate Di Maria’s outstanding performance.
Brazil manager Tite also expressed happiness with Neymar’s performances so far in the World Cup.
“He played very, very well against Serbia. I told him: ‘We know the price you have paid to climb back to this level’. He did everything we asked tactically, defending the full-back, and looked for goal, dribbled, and ran with the ball,” said Tite.
