Sabina, Krishna to play for Tamil Nadu Shetu FC
Bangladesh women footballers Sabina Khatun and Srimoti Krishna Rani Sarkar will play for Tamil Nadu’s Shetu Football Club in the Indian Women’s League 2018 Tournament, the BFF informed during a press conference at BFF House in Dhaka Monday. Sabina previously played in a foreign league in Maldives. Her stint in Maldives for Police Club in the Milo Women’s Futsal Fiesta was memorable as she became the first Bangladeshi woman booter to play for a foreign club. When asked about her ambition in this tournament, she stressed on the importance of performing well. “This will be my second time playing in a foreign league. As before, I will try to do my best as a lot of things concerning women’s football in Bangladesh depends on us (Krishna). We will try to give our best. And hopefully, if we perform well, it will pave the way for more Bangladeshi women footballers to play in leagues abroad,” said Sabina.

This will be the first time Krishna will be playing in a foreign league and much like her compatriot, she reiterated how vital it is for them to play well. “This is my first time playing in a foreign league. This will be a good opportunity for us to uphold our football as there will be a lot of other foreign players there. I hope to perform to the best of my ability there,” said Krishna. Their tenure abroad will last two months and they will play at least four matches, or more, depending on the progression of their team in the tournament. Both footballers are set to leave for India this month.
