Although Tohura rarely came into the limelight in the Saff U-15 Championship, thanks to the exploits of centreback Akhi Khatun and midfielder Monika Chakma, Bangladesh would still be indebted to her energetic displays which inspired the girls in red and green to the title. The diminutive midfielder started the tournament brilliantly, posting a hat-trick against Nepal.
Even though the goals dried up later, Tohura was still an important member of the Bangladesh squad owing to her interminable energy. Coming up against defenders who are much more taller than her, Tohura passed the test with flying colours.
She put in magnificent performances in the grand finale against India, and in their third and final group stage game against the same opposition. Threading passes to the forward line or taking shots from outside the box, Tohura was an annoying presence for the opponent defenders.
Without a shadow of a doubt, Tohura looks well set for a decorated career with the senior national side, provided she maintains her hunger throughout her career. Tohura is a coach’s dream, as she often tracks back to help out the defenders.
