Sheringham on target to sink Team BJMC
Saif Sporting Club are close to confirming their maiden berth in the AFC Cup ahead of Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited after the big-budgeted, newly promoted side edged Team BJMC 2-0 in the Bangladesh Premier League at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Thursday. Mohammedan, in the day's other match, played out a goalless draw against Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra which saw them remain at fifth place with 25 points. Saif Sporting, placed at fourth, have nine points more than Mohammedan with only four more rounds to play in the league. Along with Dhaka Abahani Limited, the club who have a better position among Saif Sporting and Mohammedan would be eligible to take part in the AFC Cup Qualifiers. English striker Charlie Sheringham netted his third premier league goal to put Saif Sporting ahead in the 16th minute. Receiving a through pass from youngster Motin Miah, Charlie took a shot from the top right of the box that entered the net through the far post. Jewel Rana netted the other goal in the 80th minute to seal all three points for Saif Sporting. RESULTS Saif Sporting 2 (Sheringham16, Jewel 80) 0 BJMC Mohammedan 0 0 Sk Russel
