A 10-man Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society played out a goalless draw in their eighth round match of the Bangladesh Premier League at the water-logged Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the day’s other match between Team BJMC and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra was postponed due to poor condition of the pitch caused by heavy rainfall.
The match has been rescheduled to Thursday at BNS with kick off time set at 6pm.
This was Rahmataganj’s third straight draw while for Mohammedan, this was their second stalemate in a row which saw the Old Dhaka outfit remain fifth with 10 points from eight matches while the Black and Whites moved to sixth with eight points from as many games.
Rahmatganj had a great chance to score in the 22nd minute but Mohammedan defender Mintu Sheikh made a superb sliding clearance to deny Rashedul Islam Shuvo, who broke into the box and paced forward past the goalkeeper before taking a shot in front of an empty net.
Mohammedan were reduced to 10 men in the 41st minute when midfielder Anik Hossain stamped Shuvo from behind at the middle of the pitch to receive a straight red card.
Rahmatganj had another big chance six minutes into the second half but Mohammedan’s former Guinean striker Ismael Bangoura failed to score from two yards away from a Mustapaha Jatta cross.
In the 58th minute, Rahmatganj goalkeeper Omar Faruk made a brilliant block to deny Mohammedan defender Monjurur Rahman Manik’s header from a corner from the middle of the box.
