Last season’s surprise Rahmatganj MFS made a flying start in the Bangladesh Premier League as the Old Dhaka outfits outplayed Arambagh Krira Sangha 4-2 in a thrilling encounter in the league’s fourth day at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Arambagh came from behind to square the scoreline twice in the game but Rahmatganj’s enthusiastic pace led by head coach Kamal Baby appeared too much for the Motijheel outfits at the end, thanks to Rashedul Islam Shuvo’s goal in the either of the halves.
Shuvo put Rahmatganj ahead at the quarter-hour mark placing home in a pass of Sohel before Alamli Bukola Olalekaw equalised the margin four minutes later with a header. Monday Osagie gave Rahmatganj the lead again five minutes after the resumption but Jean Julas Ikanga restored the parity seven minutes later from a penalty. Experienced striker Ismael Bangoura’s header put Rahmatganj again in the 77th minute before Shuvo sealed the victory in the 83rd minute.
