An 18-member Abahani squad will travel with only two foreigners – Emeka Darlington and Jonathan David – as their veteran Ghanaian defender Samad Yussif is yet to get the Indian visa.
“Samad didn’t get visa yet. He had to go to his own country first to get his passport okay. Now we are again going to travel with only two foreign players while all the other teams are playing with four. They are the major players in the team,” said Abahani head coach Drago Mamic on Saturday.
Mamic also informed that midfielder Emon Babu is unlikely to play due to injury.
“Emon is very injured. From last year, he made only three trainings. This training pitch here is killer for the players. Any player has the problem with fitness and injury because of the pitch,” he added.
The Sky Blues are currently languishing at the bottom of Group E with two defeats in as many matches.
Abahani manager Satyajit Das Rupu stated that if Samad gets his visa on Sunday then he will fly off the next day to play the game.
