Abahani set to name Croatian Drago as head coach
Drago is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka Tuesday morning. Following the departure of veteran Austro-Hungarian coach George Kottan, who guided the Sky Blues to the double last season, the Dhanmondi giant are likely to sign Drago for at least six months. “Drago will arrive on the seventh of this month. He is coming here with the intention of staying for the whole season. We have not yet finalised the length of the contract but it would be at least six months as we have AFC Cup next month, the International Club Cup in Chittagong this month and also the league,” said Abahani manager Satyajit Das Rupu Sunday. Drago is not a new face to Abahani as the Serbia-born coach joined the five-time professional league champions on April 17 last year during the group stages of the Independence Cup. But the experienced tactician left the country before the end of the season-opening tournament due to family problem. Abahani later hired Kottan for the rest of the season. The 62-year old Drago has the experience of coaching in Asia for one and a half decades. The former Myanmar and Maldives team head coach also has coaching experience in the Indian Super League and Indonesia Super League.
