Update : 14 Sep 2016, 02:32 PM
Barcelona 7 Celtic 0Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar combined to devastating effect as Barcelona swatted Celtic aside 7-0 at the Nou Camp to lay down a marker in Champions League Group C on Tuesday. Messi produced a stunning display, hitting a record sixth hat-trick in the competition to hand the 1967 winners their heaviest European Cup defeat. He smashed home a pass from Neymar in the third minute and the Argentine maestro struck again in the 27th after Celtic's Moussa Dembele had a penalty saved by goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Neymar curled in a free kick to stretch Barca's lead in the 50th minute before crossing for Andres Iniesta to volley the fourth. Messi then grabbed his third goal, overtaking Real Madrid greats Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas to reach six European Cup trebles. Neymar laid on the sixth for Suarez and the Uruguayan completed the rout with his second strike in stoppage time, capping Barca's biggest win in the competition. "It was a spectacle from start to finish, the team enjoyed themselves and so did the supporters. It's a great welcome back to the Champions League," coach Luis Enrique told a news conference. "We did so many things well. We were great in our pressing and in recovering the ball after losing it. We were intense and it's a great night for the fans, rounded off by the record."PSG 1 Arsenal 1PSG took just 42 seconds to take the lead against Arsenal as the completely unmarked Edison Cavani nodded home Serge Aurier's right-wing cross. Cavani should have had a hat-trick by half-time as he wasted two other major chances, and Angel di Maria saw his blast saved by David Ospina before the Gunners levelled out of the blue from Alexis Sanchez with 12 minutes left. Arsenal's Olivier Giroud and Marco Verratti of PSG got their marching orders in stoppage time.Bayern Munich 5 Rostov 0Football Soccer - Bayern Munich v FC Rostov - Champions League - Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany - 13/9/16 Rostov's goalkeeper Soslan Dzhanaev lets the ball into his net. REUTERS/Michaela RehleBayern dominated possession against the Russian newcomers Rostov but it took a 26th-minute penalty from Robert Lewandowski to break the deadlock. Thomas Mueller drilled home the second on the stroke of half-time off David Alaba's low cross from the left. Kimmich tapped in for 3-0 in the 53rd and headed home on the hour before Juan Bernat wrapped up matters in the 90th as Carlo Ancelotti enjoyed a winning debut as Munich coach in the competition.Man City v MoenchengladbachTorrential rain before kickoff meant Manchester City's opening Champions League Group C clash with Borussia Moenchengladbach was postponed because of safety concerns. The match will now be played on Thursday at 4:45am AEST.PSV Eindhoven 0 Atletico Madrid 1Saul Niguez scored a fine first-half volley as Atletico Madrid rode their luck to secure a 1-0 victory at PSV Eindhoven in their Champions League Group D clash. PSV had a goal disallowed, missed a penalty and had two further strong shouts for a spot-kick waved away by the officials as last year's runners-up Atletico got their campaign off to a fortuitous start.Napoli 2 Dynamo Kyiv 1Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik scored twice in the first half as Napoli came from behind to snatch a 2-1 away win over 10-man Dynamo Kiev at NSC Olimpiyskiy in the Champions League Group B opening round. Dynamo Kiev fought tenaciously from the start and put the technically gifted Italian side under pressure with a 26th-minute opener from Denys Garmash before Milik headed in twice to take advantage of shoddy defending in the air.Benfica 1 Besiktas 1Brazilian substitute Anderson Talisca scored a stunning stoppage-time free kick against his own club to earn Besiktas a 1-1 draw at former European Cup winners Benfica in their Champions League Group B match. The 22-year old forward, loaned to the Turkish title holders by their Portuguese rivals during the close season, replaced Oguzhan Ozyakup at halftime and silenced the home crowd when he cancelled out a 12th-minute opener by Franco Cervi.FC Basel 1 Ludogorets 1Basel and Ludogorets ended 1-1, with Renato Steffen cancelling out the Bulgarians' lead from Jonathan Cafu with 10 minutes left.
