Three things Tigers need to fix during England clash

Bangladesh need to play their best cricket to beat England at Abu Dhabi on Wednesday

Bangladesh will face England in their second Super-12 stage match of the men’s T20 World Cup at Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Bangladesh are on the back foot already as they have lost their opening match of the super 12 against Sri Lanka.

England are far more difficult opponent as the three Lions are the current World Cup champions in 50 over format and one of the contenders in this T20 world Cup to lift the trophy.

Bangladesh need to play their best cricket to beat England at Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and here are three things Tigers need to fix from their previous games to bring out a positive result against England:

Top order needs to click:

Bangladesh top order particularly both the openers need to click against England. The power play could be crucial whether we bat first or chase.

Tigers’ opener Liton Kumar Das are really struggling with the bat as the right hander has scored just 56 runs in four innings in this World Cup, facing 53 balls, and his strike rate is only 105.66. Liton has scored only 131 runs in his last 12 T20 innings with an average of 10.91 and strike rate of 100.76.

There is a chance that Liton might get dropped and replaced by Soumya Sarkar.

Other opener Mohammad Naim Sheikh has scored two fifties in three games in this campaign but the left hander has to bat with a better strike rate against England to make more impact. Whoever the opening pair may be, Tigers need a flying start against England.

Fielding must be electric:

One of the major concerns for Bangladesh in their last game against Sri Lanka was their fielding. The spark was missing in the fielding sector.

Liton dropped two important catches at crucial moments of the game and those two dropped catches proved extremely expensive. Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapakshe got one life each due to those drop catches and they took the game away from Bangladesh.

Although drop catches are part of the game and it could happen with anyone even with the best fielder with the side.

But to win a match against a tough opponent like England, who are one of the contenders for the title, Bangladesh players need to be electric in the field and be alert to take even half chances to turn the game in their favor.

Fizz needs to be at his best

One of the best parts of Bangladesh’s preparation prior to the World Cup was left arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman getting back to his near best.

The Fizz was in superb form against Australia and New Zealand in home series wins and also performed well with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League held in Dubai. Mustafiz has taken 6 wickets in 4 matches with an economy of 8.26 in this World Cup so far.

The figures may look good but three of these matches are being played against associate nations like Scotland, Oman and PNG. The Fizz has not been performed according to his ability or his recent form in this World Cup.

The left arm pacer needs to find his touch from the next match against England as he is pivotal in Bangladesh attack under the conditions.
