Abahani beat arch-rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club by 60 runs while Jamal beat Prime Bank Limited, the topper of the first round, by seven wickets at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

With the result Abahani have now toppled down Prime in the points table thanks to superior run-rate with both the sides having 18 points from 12 games.

Meanwhile, the other super league match of the day between Gazi Group and Prime Doleshwar and the relegation league match between OLD DOHS and Partex Sporting Club has been postponed due to rain.

Abahani vs Mohammedan

During the evening game, Mohammedan won the toss and elected to field first.

Abahani picked Liton Kumar Das in the playing eleven after giving him a lengthy break. But Liton failed to shine as the wicketkeeper batsman got out scoring just four from seven deliveries.

But at the other end, Munim Shariar, who has been in blistering form in the ongoing tournament, started his innings with delightful strokes. The right-hander eventually scored 43 off just 27 balls with five fours and two sixes.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto (27) and Mohammad Naim Sheikh (24) scored some useful runs but skipper Mushfiqur Rahim was the standout performer with the bat as the diminutive batsman scored 57 off just 32 deliveries with eight boundaries and one six.

Eventually Abahani posted a massive total of 193 runs losing seven wickets in their 20 overs.

Ruyel Miah and Asif Hossian picked three wickets apiece for Mohammedan.

In reply, Mohammedan made a horrible start losing two wickets in first five balls without any run on the board. Ifrun Sukkur scored 27 batting at four but his side lost more wickets in quick intervals to be reduced to 42-6 in seventh over.

In face of a huge defeat, late middle order batsman Mahmudul Hasan and Abu Hider Rony scored some late runs to save blushes for Mohammedan and helped the side score past 100 run-mark.

Abu Hider was unbeaten 53 off 42 balls with five fours and two sixes while Mahmudul scored 37.

Mushfiq was adjudged man of the match.

Prime Bank vs Sheikh Jamal

Batting first, Prime Bank posted a challenging total on the board with 164 losing just three wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.

Tamim Iqbal is not playing for Prime Bank as the national team opener opted out from the super league due to injury. Rubel Miah came to open the innings for Prime Bank along with regular opener Rony Talukder.

Both Rubel (21) and Rony (11) returned to pavilion after scoring some runs and Prime skipper Anamul Haque Bijoy also did the same as he was dismissed for 27 that came off 28 balls.

However, Mohammad Mithun and Raqibul Hasan formed the most crucial stand of unbeaten 73 that propelled the side to a challenging total.

Mithun was unbeaten on 67 off 42 deliveries with seven fours and two sixes while Raqibul scored 34 off 19 deliveries with four fours and one six.

In reply, Jamal lost their experienced opener Mohammad Ashraful for just five but the other opener Shykat Ali comprised a fabulous partnership of 100 runs with another experience campaigner Imrul Kayes.

Shykat took the role of aggressr as he started playing powerful strokes all around while Kayes ensured the stability of the innings.

Man of the match Shykat eventually was caught behind by Anamul off Rubel after scoring a swashbuckling 60 off just 36 balls with the aid of six fours and three sixes and Kayed soon followed him to the pavilion after making 44 off 40.

However, Nurul Hasan Sohan, one of the finest wicketkeepers of the country, made sure the good base was not wasted and he took the long handle.

Sheikh Jamal skipper Nurul played some stylish shots and his whirlwind 44 off 17 was so good that he navigated the ship to shore with as many as 11 balls to spare. Nurual struck two fours and four towering sixes in his blistering knock.
